1st Grade Music SLOs

Student Learning Objectives, or SLOs, specify the standard, objective, and concept the student(s) must master. They also specify how much of the class must show mastery and at what mastery level before the class will progress to the next stage or objective.

SLOs exist at multiple levels. Visit the SLOs homepage for more information.
District SLO:
  • Standard 2.2: Maintain a steady beat on an instrument while playing in a group. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 1 Standard 1 assessments.
Formal SLO:
  • Standard 1.1: Match pitch when singing a simple song. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 1 Standard 1 assessments.
  • Standard 2.1: Echo patterns using correct pitches and/or rhythms. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 1 Standard 2 assessments.
  • Standard 5.1/5.3: Read and perform simple four-beat patterns with quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests using rhythm syllables. / Use body percussion and movement to demonstrate rhythmic patterns. The majority (60-75% or higher) of students will practice and model these concepts through songs, musical experiences, and music literacy stages.
Informal SLO:
  • Standard 1.4: Sing songs from various cultures using correct pitches and/or rhythms. The majority (60-75% or higher) of students will practice and model these concepts through songs, musical experiences, and music literacy stages.
