2nd Grade Music SLOs

Student Learning Objectives, or SLOs, specify how much of a class must show mastery and at what level before they the class will progress to the next stage or objective.

SLOs exist at multiple levels. Visit the SLOs homepage for more information.
District SLO:
  • Standard 1.1: Sing with accurate pitch, appropriate tone quality, clear diction, and good posture. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 2 Standard 1 assessments.
Formal SLO:
  • Standard 2.4: Identify the instruments used in the classroom as well as in various world cultures. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 2 Standard 2 assessments.
Informal SLO:
  • Standard 2.3: Play classroom instruments with the proper technique, holding them correctly. The majority (60-75% or higher) of students will practice and model these concepts.
  • Standard 5.2: Notate quarter, eighth, half, dotted half, and sixteenth notes, and quarter and half rests using iconic or standard notation. The majority (60-75% or higher) of students will practice and model these concepts.
Experience-based SLO:
Students will experience these concepts through musical activities appropriate for this level.
  • Standard 1.2: Sing a cappella and with accompaniment, independently and in groups.
  • Standard 1.3: Sing songs in the languages of other cultures, adding any movement considered intrinsic to authentic performance of the music.
  • Standard 2.5: Play simple ostinatos while others sing.
  • Standard 5.1: Read and perform quarter, eighth, half, dotted half, and sixteenth notes, and quarter and half rests in four-beat groupings using rhythm syllables.
