4th Grade Music SLOs


Student Learning Objectives, or SLOs, specify how much of a class must show mastery and at what level before they the class will progress to the next stage or objective.

District SLO:
SLO Statement
  • Standard 2.1: Play patterns correctly by rote and by reading. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 4 Standard 2 assessments.
  • Standard 2.2: Play pitched and unpitched percussion, keyboards, and recorders correctly producing a good sound. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 4 Standard 2 assessments.
  • Standard 5.1 / 5.2: Read, notate, and perform quarter, dotted quarter, eighth, half, dotted half, sixteenth, and (or) whole notes, and quarter, half, and whole rests in duple and (or) triple meters using rhythm syllables. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 4 Standard 5 assessments.
Formal SLO:
  • Standard 1.1: Sing in tune (breath control, pitch, tone, diction, posture). 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 4 Standard 1 assessments.
Informal SLO:
  • Standard 1.4: Sing partner songs, rounds, and ostinati. The majority (60-75% or higher) of students will practice and model these concepts through songs, musical experiences, and music literacy stages.
  • Standard 2.3: Play ostinato accompaniments independently and with others. The majority (60-75% or higher) of students will practice and model these concepts through songs, musical experiences, and music literacy stages.
Experience-based SLO:
  • Standard 1.3: Sing songs with varied accompaniment and including other cultures and languages, adding any movement considered intrinsic to authentic performance of the music. Students will experience these concepts through musical activities appropriate for this level.
