5th Grade Music SLOs


Student Learning Objectives, or SLOs, specify how much of a class must show mastery and at what level before they the class will progress to the next stage or objective.

District SLO:
  • NA
Formal SLO:
  • Standard 1.1: Sing in tune (breath control, pitch, tone, diction, posture). 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 5 Standard 1 assessments.
  • Standard 2.1 & 2.2: Play patterns correctly (producing a good sound) by rote and by reading. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 5 Standard 2 assessments.
  • Standard 5.2: Identify and notate quarter, dotted quarter, eighth, half, dotted half, sixteenth, and whole notes, and quarter, half, and whole rests in meters of 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8. 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 5 Standard 5 assessments.
  • Standard 5.1: Read, notate, and perform quarter, dotted quarter, eighth, half, dotted half, sixteenth, and whole notes, and quarter, half, and whole rests in meters of 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, and 6/8. (add syncopation) 100% of students will score 80% or higher on Grade 5 Standard 5 assessments.
Informal SLO:
  • Standard 1.4: Sing unison and 2-pt songs, partner songs, & rounds (a cappella and accompanied). The majority (60-75% or higher) of students will practice and model these concepts through songs, musical experiences, and music literacy stages.
Experience-based SLO:
  • Standard 1.3: Sing a varied repertoire of songs with sensitivity to diverse cultures, accurate use of languages, and appropriate movement. Students will experience these concepts through musical activities appropriate for this level.
  • Standard 2.3: Play instruments to accompany singing alone or in a group. Students will experience these concepts through musical activities appropriate for this level.
