Student Learning Objectives (SLOs)
"Student Learning Objectives," or SLOs, specify the Indiana Music Standard, lesson objective, and concept(s) the students must master. The SLOs also specify how much of the class must show mastery and at what mastery level before the class will progress to the next stage or objective.
SLOs exist at multiple levels in Mr. McBride's Music class:
- District SLOs - formal assessment of individual students with specific, district-level data analysis and reports by all district elementary schools. Grades are posted on report cards and online Gradebook.
- Formal SLOs - formal assessment of individual students. Grades are posted to report cards and online Gradebook.
- Informal SLOs - informal assessment of classes with "checks for understanding" and visual or aural analysis of student understanding. Grades may or may not be officially reported though data may be taken to track progress.
- Experience-based SLOs - non-assessed experiences that aid, support, or clarify specific standards, skills, and concepts. These enhance the educational foundation and students' enjoyment of music.
